estefania’s commitment to community is longstanding. for as long as they have been performing, they have been creating spaces for others to share their art as well. this list is not exhaustive, but details some of their past and present commitments to the arts community in particular.

Spoken Word Canada Board

In 2017 estefania joined the Spoken Word Canada Board as a member-at-large. Since then, they have been an active member and have contributed to multiple projects, including spearheading a Festival Planning Document and collaborating with the Anti-Oppression committee on transformative justice projects.

Voices of Today

From August 22nd to 25th, 8 youth slam teams from across the country gathered in Tkaronto to compete in the very first Voices of Today Festival. It was the newest iteration of the previous national youth festival, which took place in Ottawa for 2013 and 2014.

yes was the Co-Director of this incredible festival. they have since remained on the Festival Organizing committee as a core organizer. 2019 will be their last year as they’ll be aging out.

Birds of a Feather Poet Storm

In the Spring of 2017, in coalition with Feather & Anchor, yes coordinated a fundraising campaign that sent 3 IBPOC femmes to compete at the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam in Vancouver, BC.
